Synesthesia - Seeing Colors from Numbers and Shapes

 We finally get to the synesthesia episode! This was teased back in November, when we talked about favorite colors in episode 34. 

We deep-dive into the etymology of "synesthesia" along with the definition and some of the history around the psychological research about this condition. We also relate a variety of personal experiences related to synesthesia where some of the kids see colors related to numbers or where Adam sees shapes associated with numbers as well as colors associated with shapes.

As a society, should we focus on explicit cognition to solve mathematical problems, or encourage this ability to "see" the answer? Do you have any of these duplicative sensations when you look at a number, word, or shape?
